The first painting from the “Dancers” series introduces the profound love and admiration Paola Minekov has for the art of dance. This particular work is a giclée print after an oil painting. Thick strokes describe the central group of angular ballet figures. Emphasising the geometry of their elaborate gestures, the artist preserves the essential elegance of their art. Through the layers of olive, ochre and umber tones we read the influences of cubist facets. A dynamic composition allows the viewer to sense the rhythm of the movement and to even hear the music to which these abstracted dancers perform.
