Bronze Statue
Saint Cyril and Methodius are two of the most important figures in the entire Southern Slavic realm, directly responsible for the literacy of this large ethnic group and the creation of the Cyrillic alphabet. Ivan Minekov created this bronze piece after a monumental homage to the two Moravian brothers. Their thin, elongated figures allude to the orthodox fresco-painting, where asceticism and spirituality were given the preference, while the bodies were often ethereal and formless. The book between the figures suggests their work and their gestures and postures contribute to the harmony of the composition.
